Ensembles
The mission of the TYO is to enrich the musical lives of young musicians through high quality instruction and unique performance opportunities.
The Tallahassee Youth Orchestras is the premier orchestral training program of Florida’s Big Bend area. The TYO believes that one of the best ways to ensure that music is and remains a thriving part of our community is to win over the hearts and minds of young people. Our goal is to provide high-quality music education programs that cultivate the next generation of musicians and patrons of the arts. The activities of the TYO are meant to help transform our community into one that more fully recognizes the power and importance of musical literacy, and one that leads the state in its support of music education.
The TYO offers three orchestral ensembles and a wide variety of chamber groups for music students of all levels and ages. These ensembles rehearse weekly and perform four traditional concerts a year as well as additional performances within the community. In addition to ensemble training, students receive specialized coaching for their instrument or instrument family.
The TYO strongly believes that all students should have access to valuable music education opportunities. To make its programs more accessible to all families, the TYO offers tuition discounts to assist families with multiple students and/or students who participate in multiple ensembles. The TYO has also developed a need-based scholarship program. To be eligible for a scholarship, students submit an application that is privately evaluated by an accounting firm to assess each applicant’s financial need.
The following steps will help you to determine the correct path to joining the TYO:

Using the ensemble guidelines, determine if an audition is required.

If you have completed an audition, use the online Registration form to complete the process.
