MEGUMI TERRY
A graduate of Florida State University, Megumi Terry has performed with numerous professional ensembles, including the Tallahassee Symphony, Venice Symphony, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Northwest Florida Symphony, Valdosta Symphony, and Panama City Symphony Orchestras. Her performance career has taken her across the United States, Asia, and Europe, and she has shared the stage with renowned artists such as The Killers, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, and Train.

In 2015, Megumi made her Carnegie Hall debut and has appeared as a soloist with the Utah Philharmonic, Southwest Symphony, The Orchestra of Southern Utah, and both the BYU Symphony and Philharmonic. During her time at Florida State University, she served as concertmaster of the university’s flagship symphony orchestra and was a member of its resident Burgin String Quartet. She is also a prizewinner of the Stradivarius Competition and continues to perform as a section violinist with the Utah Symphony.

Megumi’s passion for connecting music with community led her to a fellowship with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, where she performed full-time, worked with youth orchestras, and supported a variety of community engagement programs. She currently serves as Personnel Manager and Head of Education for the Tallahassee Symphony, where she helped launch free music programs for students in Leon County. She is also a founding member of the Mina String Quartet, the symphony’s quartet-in-residence, which presents inclusive and interactive performances in local elementary schools.

In addition to her work with the Tallahassee Symphony, Megumi is the new co-director of the Music for Food Tallahassee chapter, combining her love for music and social action to address food insecurity in the community.

As Executive Director of Tallahassee Youth Orchestras, Megumi is excited to bring her experience as a performer, educator, and arts leader to support and inspire the next generation of young musicians—all while continuing her work with the Tallahassee Symphony and broader musical community.
