José is a Masters Student in Jazz Performance for FSU’s College of Music, He is an FSU Alumni graduating in 2019 with his bachelors in Music for Jazz Performance. He has been playing Upright Bass for over 15 years and has been teaching music for more than 5 years. José was raised in Venezuela where, as a student, he played bass in folkloric and classical orchestras. José returned to the U.S in 2011, prior to his time at FSU, and taught for SIMANOF where he eventually chaperoned and participated in a performance with Pequeñas Huellas alongside the RAI National Symphony Orchestra in Torino, Italy. While studying Jazz under Jonathan Dadurka, José taught in the Siman Orchestral Foundation for 2 years in a row during this time he also taught at TUYO in Doral’s Somerset Academy. José plays a range of music including Jazz, Latin, Classical, Blues, and Popular Music. He has also performed alongside a number of reputable musicians including Longineu Parsons, Nat Adderley Jr., and Jason Hainsworth.
