Jackson Kowalczyk is a junior at Florida State University, where he is pursuing a degree in percussion performance. He frequently performs with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Gulf Coast Orchestra, and Tallahassee Community Chorus. Jackson spent the last two summers as a merit scholarship recipient at the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina, studying with John Shaw (The Florida Orchestra), Eric Schweikert (Fort Wayne Philharmonic), and Matthew Decker (Seattle Symphony).

A Pittsburgh-native, Jackson spent his high school years performing as a member of the NAFME All-National Orchestra and All-Eastern Orchestra, and was a member of several regional youth and community orchestras. He also spent summers at the Penn State Honors Music Institute as well as the Eastman Summer Percussion Institute.

In November 2023 Jackson will perform with the FSU Percussion Ensemble at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, as winners of the PAS International Percussion Ensemble Competition. Jackson’s private teachers include Dr. John W. Parks IV and Paul Evans.
