Tallahassee Youth Orchestras

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Misaki Hall is the Symphony Director of the Tallahassee Youth Orchestras. She is also a first-year doctoral student at Florida State University pursuing a PhD in
Music Education with concentration in Orchestral Conducting under the direction of Dr. Alexander Jiménez. In addition to her studies, Misaki serves as Assistant Conductor of the University Symphony Orchestra as well as the Head Librarian of the Orchestra Library.
 

Prior to her move to Tallahassee, Misaki gained extensive experience in the youth, professional, and community orchestra settings. Ensembles she has worked with include the Dayton
Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, Louisville Youth Orchestra, Louisville Civic Orchestra, and
Orchestra Northern Arizona. She has also experience in academia, having acted as sabbatical replacement for the University of Louisville School of Music’s orchestra and graduate orchestral conducting programs. In the summers, Misaki has attended the Pierre Monteux School and Music Festival as a conductor, violinist, and orchestra assistant from 2022 to 2025.
 

As an instrumentalist, Misaki enjoys playing in various ensembles and genres of music. She has performed as a solo jazz violinist in collaborations with the Count Basie Orchestra and Chicago
Jazz Philharmonic, and as section violinist in regional orchestras of Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee. She has also recorded and performed on keys and synthesizer in her psychedelic-rock
band, DOOM GONG, with which she has toured the United States, Canada, and nations across Europe.

Misaki holds her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Louisville School of Music, where she studied with Professors Kimcherie Lloyd (conducting), Brittany MacWilliams and Geoffrey Herd (violin).
