CONCERTO COMPETITION

ANNOUNCING OUR ANNUAL CONCERT COMPETITION

We are excited to announce the annual Concerto Competition, open to all members of the Tallahassee Youth Orchestras. The winner will be selected through an audition before a panel of three distinguished judges from the Tallahassee area and will have the honor of performing their concerto movement with the TYO Symphony Orchestra during the May 3, 2026 concert.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • November 14: Application Form posted

  • December 14: Application due!

  • January 24: Concerto Competition, location TBD​​​

AUDITION PROTOCOLS

  • Students may audition on an instrument other than that which the student plays in TYO, such as piano or voice

  • Students who placed first in previous years may not participate a second time

  • Advanced approval of student’s audition piece must be given by the Music Director

  • Performances are limited to one movement of a multi-movement work

  • An audition fee of $20 will be assessed

  • Students should provide the judges with a copy of their music on audition day

  • Students should dress professionally for their audition

  • Video submissions are not allowed

  • The decision of the judges is final
